We continue to develop the number and variety of courses and activities that we have on offer in order to meet the demands of our ever increasing customer base and to ensure that we have the right activities to fulfil all of our customers’ requirements.

What really matters to us is providing a quality experience to you or your group, helping you to make the most of your time spent with us. Our team of qualified, experienced and enthusiastic staff will ensure that all of your needs are met, and your expectations exceeded. We ensure that our quality of instruction remains high through regular staff training sessions and through actively encouraging all of our staff team to seek out appropriate personal and professional development opportunities.

Whether you are new to your chosen activity, working towards one of the many National Governing Body awards, looking to gain a professional instructional qualification or just looking for an enjoyable way to spend your leisure time we will have the right course or activity for you. If you don’t see what you want  just call us at the Centre and we will be more than happy to put together a specially designed course or programme to suit your needs and aspirations.

We continually replace and update our range of equipment to ensure that we maintain our already high standards, and to remain in touch with customer demands and changes in the outdoor industry. Hollingworth Lake Water Activity Centre is the Royal Yachting Association’s OnBoard centre for the North West of England. OnBoard is a scheme set up by the RYA, the National Governing Body for sailing and windsurfing in Great Britain. We have a dedicated OnBoard Development Officer on-site and we are actively working with schools, youth groups and community groups to increase the opportunities for young people to get involved in all of the activities on offer at the Centre. Our OnBoard Development Officer will work with you to offer assistance with all aspects of your booking and activity (for more information please see the schools, groups and parties section).

The Lady Alice

Our 34-foot passenger boat, the Lady Alice, continues a long tradition of passenger boats on Hollingworth Lake. The Lady Alice runs every Saturday and Sunday afternoon throughout the season (April-September) and also on weekday afternoons during the school summer holidays. We operate full trips around the lake lasting 20-25 minutes and half trips across the lake (depending upon water levels).

Rowing Boats

Our rowing boat fleet is available for hire on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from April - September and on weekday afternoons throughout the school summer holidays, depending upon weather conditions (please contact the Centre regarding rowing boat availability to avoid disappointment). Rowing boats are hired out for 30 minutes, at a cost of £5.00 for adults and £3.50 for PTL/Junior/OAPs. Please note that under 14s must be accompanied in the boat by an adult.

Gift Vouchers

Gift vouchers can be purchased for any specific activity, course or session available at the Centre, or up to any value to allow the recipient to choose their activity. These vouchers make an ideal gift for the adventurous individual, outdoor enthusiast or as a gift for someone who wouldn't even have thought they could try outdoor pursuits.

Passport to Leisure

Passport to Leisure reductions are available during off-peak times for all of our activities, courses and equipment hire prices. Reductions are also avaliable on Lady Alice ticket prices throughout the whole year. For more information about the scheme contact Passport to Leisure on 01706 924844.

Special Needs and Disability Awareness

Hollingworth Lake Water Activity Centre regularly  support and are proactive about providing a service to people with disabilities and are keen to invite them to our facilities. The staff at the Centre have received an extensive amount of training and work closely with Rochdale Gateway Leisure Ltd a local disability specialist service. There are a wide range of activities available including sailing, canoeing and kayaking. Activities can be developed to be suitable for people who just want a 'come and try' through to people wanting to do personal performance awards. Example of the activities are the Canadian Canoe rafts which provide a very safe and serene way to enjoy the water and lake, through to the dynamic Dart 16 catermaran which can zip along at great speed.

In addition to the activities we also have equipment for supporting people, for example a hoist to get people from their wheelchairs onto the activities and specialist seats for assisting people to sit up on the activities.
