Completion of the impressive new £10.4 million Heywood Sports Village has been marked with an official hand over ceremony as work now starts in full in fitting out the centre for a September opening. Representatives of the three main funders Rochdale Borough Council, Heywood NDC and Link4Life gathered to celebrate the occasion which marked the end of a ten year dream to improve sport, culture and leisure facilities in Heywood. See story

Over 10,000 people packed Rochdale town centre this weekend to enjoy a full programme of music, food and family entertainment in the sunshine during what organisers say was the most successful ever Feel Good Festival. Crowds enjoyed the fine weather as the town centre was filled with the biggest line up of free entertainment ever seen at the annual summer festival. See photos and stories from the festival.

Rochdale Borough Council and their partners Link4Life and the Impact Partnership have been named the best local government partnership in the UK after winning a prestigious national award.

Despite strong competition, the trio were named as ‘Public Private Partnership achievement of the year', last week in London, at one of the top annual awards presented by local government magazine 'The MJ’ (Municipal Journal). [More]
