Tanvi Kant
Gallery Three
17 July - 3 October
Tanvi Kant draws from the subconscious influence of her Indian Gujarati cultural heritage; the tradition of weaving fine gold wire fabrics, gold work embroidery and the incorporation of precious stones with fabric within costume and ethnographic textiles will be explored in her new jewellery made for the shape of things.

Tanvi’s work references the sari and challenges styles of traditionally worn gold jewellery. Her choice of materials refers to recycling and sustainability but they also give reference to more personal and collective histories, subverting traditional notions of material value and beauty.Tanvi will be leading a workshop linked to her exhibition.

Taslim Martin: Disparate Nature
Gallery Four
17 July - 3 October
Disparate Nature is a significant new body of work by the artist Taslim Martin. This show investigates cultural identity by looking at archetypes and hierarchy, and by experimenting and playing with materials and process. Craft skills are a key element in the exhibition and the whole space is given over to works including large-scale clay works drawn directly on the gallery wall, portrait heads in cast iron and works that explore the sculptural potential of functional objects.
Visitors to the exhibition are invited to contribute to an ongoing collaborative work by creating their own symbols, patterns, marks or designs to be incorporated into the work throughout the period of the show.
