Touchstones Rochdale is proud to announce that we are now officially an Arts Awards Welcome Centre. That means that we fully support the Arts Awards and will offer practical help wherever possible to people who are pursuing their creative potential through an Arts Award.
Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification that supports young people aged from 11-25 to develop as artists and art leaders.
Administered by Arts Council England and Trinity Guildhall, Arts Award is offered at three levels - bronze, silver and gold. At all levels young people have the opportunity to directly engage with the world of arts and to develop their own artistic and communication skills.
As Touchstones Rochdale houses four art galleries, a museum, local studies centre, education and event studio, café, tourist information centre and the Arts Development Service we are well placed to offer advice and support.
Here are things that Touchstones Rochdale is pleased to offer to Arts Award participants:
Work placements
We are able to offer work placements and volunteering opportunities to support your award. If we are not able to offer a relevant placement ourselves, we will try to advise you where to go.

Visit our galleries / tours of the galleries
Visit our four galleries. If you are visiting with a group, it may be possible to arrange a tour or talk. It may also be possible to attend an exhibition opening or interview an artist or exhibition curator. Please contact our Art Gallery Officer, Yvonne Hardman on 01706 924945.

Advice regarding opportunities for participation
The Arts Development Service works closely with 9 arts organisations across the Rochdale Borough to provide opportunities to participate in the arts. If you would like to find out what’s on offer ring 01706 924954.

Advice for people looking for opportunities to share skills
The Arts Development Service is a good source of information about participatory arts right across Rochdale Borough. We will point you towards people who may be able to give you the opportunity to support or lead workshops.

Access to arts professionals
We work closely with a variety of arts professionals who are based at Touchstones Rochdale who will happily share their expertise and experiences. If we cannot help directly, we will try to put you in contact with someone who can.

Share your work
If you would like to display some of the work you have produced there may be opportunities to do this through our café exhibition boards. Please contact Yvonne Hardman on 01706 924945. We can help you to share your reviews by posting them on the Arts Awards Welcome section of our website.

It is possible to use our education studio for running one off workshops or events or even for holding a moderation session.
