Physical Education and Sport

There has been significant progress in recent years not only in school-based sport and physical education but in many areas outside the curriculum. Our Go4it Education Programme is designed to provide opportunities for participation, competition and leadership and to help promote an active and healthy lifestyle. Following changes to Government funding, Link4Life will continue to work with schools to maintain the network for school sport and build on what has so successfully been accomplished.

Link4Life has contributed fully to the ten strands of the School Sports Partnership taking a lead role in many – Coaching, Competition, Continuing Professional Development, Inclusion, Club Links, Extended Schools, Gifted and Talented, Leadership and Volunteering, Swimming and Infrastructure Development.

School and Community-Based Activities

Sports Coaching

The Link4Life Sports Coaching programme aims to develop a structure for sports programmes and increase the number of young people regularly participating in sport. Part of this structure is to offer a coaching programme for schools which supports the delivery of the PE curriculum. It also supports the delivery of after-school clubs and inter-school competition. The programme spans the fundamentals of movement at KS1, introduction and development into specific sports at KS2, development of sports skills and techniques at KS3 and awards and qualifications at KS4 providing the motivation and leadership skills to run sporting activities in the community.
