Arts & Heritage

The Arts & Heritage Service aspires to be regarded locally, regionally and nationally as delivering the most highly regarded, dynamic and engaging cultural offer outside the centre of Manchester. It is also our aim that Rochdale Borough is a thriving place in which accessible, quality arts can flourish and participation in the arts is open to everyone.

We operate from two main sites: Touchstones Rochdale and the Arts & Heritage Resource Centre and aims to deliver an exciting, dynamic, cultural offer raising confidence, self-esteem and aspirations. The Service also promotes the Borough and its attractions and events. It does this by raising the profile of the Borough through delivering and supporting a exciting cultural programme, including exhibitions, events and activities and through Visitor Information. To find out more please visit our What's On page.

The Arts & Heritage Service is responsible also for the development, acquisition, care, conservation, documentation and promotion of the Rochdale Borough Collections: Art Gallery,Museum and Local Studies and Archives.

The Service is also responsible for local history collections at Heywood and Middleton Libraries, outreach displays and visitor information points in numerous community venues together with a Boroughwide Education Service and Arts Development.
