The First World War, or the Great War, was a global war that began on 28 July 1914 and lasted until 11 November 1918. To commemorate this, we are holding a number of free sessions for you to come and talk to us about your memories, or those of your loved ones, recollecting the war. We have a fascinating collection of replica items and photographs that portray the scenes during the First World War, which you are welcome to come and have a look at. Do you have a story or old photographs to share? Or perhaps you would like to donate artefacts or documents to our collection? These would then be digitised as a permanent memorial and available for others to observe.

The Big Games 2016

the-big-games-2016-webLink4Life's Big Games is a legacy project of the London 2012 Olympic Games. Over 5,000 people took part in The Big Games boroughwide during the 2012 Olympic celebrations and it's been a great success story ever since. Link4Life has built on this project to promote local clubs and groups and to get more people more active.

Link4Life's Event Co-ordinator, Donna Livesey said: "The Big Games aims to help people find out more about the wide range of resources on their doorstep and how they can get to use them on a regular basis. We're inviting everyone to come along ready to have fun and try as many activities as possible during the day."

The Big Games takes place on dates in April, May, June and July, the focus is on children and families and all activities are free - just turn up. There's something for all ages, and taster sessions will run throughout the days.

Activities include: punch and judy, balanceability bikes, sure tracks BMX bikes, climbing wall, face painting, arts and craft, inflatable obstacle, streetgolf and golf tasters. There will be a goodybag for the first 250.
