What's On at Touchstones Rochdale

Touchstones Rochdale is a great place to visit with something for all ages – and ideal for families with hands on activities in a child-friendly environment. Entry is free and it is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10am-5pm.

Here you’ll find – all under one roof – the Art Gallery, Museum, Local Studies Centre, Visitor Information Centre and Shop.

Café Life, run by Pure Innovations, is open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-4pm with food served from 11am.

Jilly Edwards: Wanderlust - Gallery Three - 26 September – 22 November 2014

Jilly Edwards is one of the UK's leading tapestry weavers. She takes inspiration from her travels whether around the world or to her favourite beach, hillside or just a walk to the corner shop and her response to the feelings and memories these places evoke is translated into the final tapestry.

Four Seasons in One Day - Gallery Two - 22 March 2014 – 7 March 2015

This exhibition from the borough's art collection explores the four seasons through a range of historic and contemporary works of art. Springtime blossom, summer sunshine, autumn leaves and winter snows are all captured in work from a range of artists including Adrian Berg, Joseph Farquharson, Fred Jackson and Edward Stott.

Talking Heads - Heritage Gallery - 24 May 2014 – 18 April 2015

Portraits are brought to life in this exhibition as personal objects are explored and stories are told. Talking Heads celebrates some of the people of Rochdale who have given to the borough.

Art4Families Saturday Club

childrens-university-logoArt4Families Saturday Club invites children and their adult companions to explore Touchstones Rochdale's exhibitions and participate together in collaborative hands-on art & craft making activities led by trained artists and staff. Projects are suitable for a wide variety of abilities and designed specifically for those aged 5-12 years old.

Autumn Arts4Families Workshops are now FREE - booking is essential - numbers limited. Ring Touchstones Rochdale on 01706 924492 from Tuesday 28 October 2014 (open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-5pm).

Spring Programme - tickets cost £2 per child per workshop & accompanying adults go free. (There is a maximum of 3 children per adult).
